Your home
Your primary home is your exchange's Base deposit address. After your first deposit, your vault sends it $5; confirm it arrived, and your home is verified. The test repeats once a year, or twice with Protect. Above $25,000 we suggest a second home, such as a hardware wallet or another exchange.
Changing your home
Only a phone that has been active for 7 days can change a home, and the change takes 7 days. You are alerted when it is requested and again a day before it happens, and any of your phones can cancel it. Fortcore can't record, cancel, speed up or choose a home.
Every way home
| Started by | Wait | Who can stop it |
|---|---|---|
| You, from a phone active 7 days: close to my exchange | 72 hours | That phone |
| You, from any cloud device: send everything home | 7 days | A phone that was already active 7 days when it started |
| Anyone, after you go silent | 30 days | Any activity from your phone |
| Fortcore with Protect, after recovery by email and SMS | 30 days | A phone added before it started |
| Fortcore with Protect, after an identity check | 14 days | A phone added before it started |
| Fortcore with Protect, after three locks in 30 days | 14 days | Nobody |
| A public wind-down of Fortcore | 30-day notice, then 90 days | Nobody; a faster return of your own can replace it |
If you go silent
The inactivity return is on by default at 12 months, free, and you can choose 6 to 24 months or turn it off. You get reminders 30, 7 and 1 days before, by push and email, and also by SMS with Protect. After the period, a 30-day return home starts, so your savings reach your exchange 12 months and 30 days after your last activity. Opening the app with Face ID counts as activity.
Your heirs
The money lands at your exchange, whose estate process your family can follow. The app makes a one-page note naming the exchange and the vault. With Protect, a named heir or your lawyer is told when the return starts and guided through the exchange's process. With Private, estate partners offer discounts, only with your explicit consent. Fortcore never decides a death, interprets a will or pays a newly supplied address. Planning crypto inheritance.
If your exchange fails or freezes
Your savings aren't on it; they're in your vault. Switch a pending return to your second home, or change your home, which takes 7 days. Fortcore starts no return into an exchange it has flagged as in trouble.
Questions
What if I never confirmed the $5 test?
A return after a long silence still pays your primary home, so your heirs aren't stranded. Tokens your exchange can't take, and money marked as tainted, go to your second home if it is your own wallet, or stay in the vault.
Can Fortcore send my savings anywhere else?
No. Every return pays only your own homes, and only you, from a phone active for 7 days, can change them.
