Strict settings

Slower on purpose.

For savings you rarely touch, slower is safer. Strict settings are free on every plan, and they can only add restrictions.

The four settings

What each strict setting changes
SettingWhat changes
Slow withdrawalsNothing goes at once. New addresses, and anything above the daily amount, wait 72 hours; more than half your savings waits 7 days
Known addresses onlyA withdrawal to an address you haven't paid before is refused. You add a new one with a FortCard tap and a 7-day wait
FortCard on every sendEvery withdrawal needs a tap of your FortCard
FortCard to add a phoneYour cloud passkey can't add a phone without your FortCard

On at once, off after 7 days

Turning a strict setting on takes effect immediately, from any of your phones. Turning it off needs a phone that has been active for 7 days and takes 7 days, so nobody can switch it off and empty the vault the same day.

When to use them

  • Long-term savings you plan to leave alone for months.
  • Known addresses only, if you always withdraw to the same exchange account.
  • FortCard to add a phone, to close the gap where someone holds your cloud account.
  • FortCard on every send, if you want a second physical step for every withdrawal.

What they cost

Nothing. Restrictions are free on every plan; Fortcore charges for people and services, never for protection. See pricing.

Questions

Can a strict setting make anything faster?

No. Strict settings only add waits and checks.

What if I lose my FortCard while a setting needs it?

Sending or adding a phone waits until a replacement card works, which takes 24 hours after you enrol it, or until the setting is off after its 7-day wait.
